Lewis Hamilton post qualifying absolutely breaking my heart Lewis Hamilton suggests Ferrari now needs to replace him
Yeah, it wouldnāt surprise me if he decided to hang up his hat in the next season or two. I love the man, but I think heās going to have to come to terms with the fact that although heās the greatest of all time he is no longer at that level.
I have a tiny bit of hope that he might come good again next season, when the ground effect cars are gone.
This is maybe a little off-topic, but I was just wondering how Sauber get work permits for some of their team staff.
As far as I know, for a non-EU citizen to get a Swiss work permit, you have to prove that you could find no suitable CH/EU citizen for the role (which involves advertising the job). Jobs for example like Team Principle in F1 are not advertised. Teams have secret talks with people they are interested in. So I wonder how for example, they would get a permit for Jonathan Wheatley? Do sports teams have different rules? F1 teams, Football teams etc.
The same way as coaches, players, support staff in any sport get theirs.
sport teams and support staff working in Switzerland must comply with general Swiss labor, immigration, and sports laws, with specific procedures depending on whether they are EU/EFTA or non-EU citizens and the nature of their engagement (permanent or temporary)
In such a specialist area it would not be difficult to show that particular roles could not be filled from the Swiss labour force. Some of us came over before the CH-EU agreements were in place, again with a special skill set that they needed for a particular role, and it was not difficult.
Find me another SAS expert with 20-odd years of experience including of migrating clinical trials/analysis data from Vax to Unix and the ability to produce standard code to work in both environments. Yes, they exist(ed), but probably only in low double figures across the world at that time, and very unlikely to find one in the Swiss population who happened to be looking for a job at the right time.
In F1 the pool would be even smaller, and with no other Swiss teams how could anyone have been able to get the experience at the required level?
Oh, and no, it does not require that the job has first been advertised specifically for EU/CH candidates, itās just a simple way to justify it.
Esteban Ocon has made clear that Haas āneed to get the consistency togetherā over the second half of the Formula 1 season, after the team struggled for pace at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Itās official. Bottas and Perez to Cadillac!
Finally confirmed by the team Letās see what happens with the Ferrari hybrid engine + transmission they will use.
I only have 1 wish, that they hire the engineers who made the Cadillac LMDh (the one in IMSA series) sound like that:
Watching the Zandvoort race now.
Verstappen overtook Norris at the start, aimed at Piastri but stayed in 2nd for a few laps until Norris recovered the 2nd.
Hamilton crashed out of nowhere and turn 3 (steep bank). Russell pushed Leclerc also in turn 3 sending him to the barriers. Leclerc is still sitting among the public behind the barriersā¦looking at the horizon.
Norris car broke! WTF?
Big consequences: Piastri 25 (?) points if Verstappen canāt overtake him, Norris 0, and rookie Hadjar that started in 4th may finish in the podium.
Piastri played a blinder and lead from start to finish, heād have had to have made a huge mistake or had car issues for anyone to overtake him.
Hadjar gets his first podium too.
Gutted for Lewis and Lando. Super happy for Hadjar, heās top Rookie in my opinion - just hope it doesnāt earn him a demotion to Red Bull.
Lewis has also got a 5 place grid drop next race, for a yellow flag infringement. Guy canāt catch a break.
I think Lewis has done really well to get P6 finish at the Italian GP, considering he had to deal with that 5-place grid drop.
It seems a lot of people is upset with team orders at McLaren.
On one hand, team ordering Piastri to let Norris pass reduced the points difference from 34 to 31 between Piastri and Norris. Verstappen is 97 points from Piastri. Verstappen is not winning this WDC.
On the other hand, Norris (McLaren 2nd place) was 88 points away from Verstappen in Hungary. 2 races later and with team orders, Verstappen reduced the difference from 88 to 63 points. No team orders and the difference from 3rd to 2nd in WDC would be only 60 points. A recovery from Verstappen of 28 points in 2 races. Verstappen canāt have this, McLaren orders.
McLaren can almost bet one of their drivers will be champion. Norris was supported in Monza to ensure Verstappen doesnāt get 2nd in WDC.
Itās almost weird to see a team fully supporting their 2 drivers after all the years of 1 driver teams Mercedes (Hamilton) and Red Bull (Verstappen).
