I hate to do this but I have to strongly disagree about Carolyn Rower, that is if you want more than just a conservative cut. I went to her because I read a review and when she heard I produced a TV about her 'favorite hairstylist' after cutting my hair into a long, plain bob she admitted she was 'nevous'. Not what I wanted to hear. Also, I got my color there and she has no idea how to do 'highlights'. Told her that I would like 'golden blonde' on for my light brown hair, and she insisted that "golden meant red". Ended up getting married with Auburn hair. I think she is okay, at best but not good for the prices she charges. Iv'e had my hair done in NY and Los Angeles for over 15 yrs and she would never be able to work there. Some may disagree but this is my personal experience. I now go to a great hairstylist for color; Andrea at Szena (Behind Globus) She is sweet, speaks English and talented.
The team is super cool. Always good mood. Professional. It is convenient cause you have tram and S-bahn close (Stauffacher). They do as well others things like weddings, make up, nails.
I got my hair cut today by Michaela (MJNJ on this forum). She's English (so no problems explaining what I wanted), she came to the house, did a great job, and her prices are extremely reasonable. She's also really nice! Highly recommended.
Burn topic for me right now! I used to go back to Prague for my haircuts, but i won't be able to do it in next month and i am desperate for cut/color.
I've tried Caroline Rohwer and i must say: NOT impressed. They are nice and all. But nowhere close to all the positive reviews i've read here. I only have had styling, but it was nothing special, i could have done better at home. So i absolutely don't want them to cut my hair.
Has anyone tried Head Case Zurich @ Kalkbreite or in Baar?
I am not desperate for an English speaking hairdresser, a person who knows what s/he does is ok, i can explain myself in Deutsch.
This is our 6th year in Zurich and after reading the reviews about
Caroline Rowher ,I went to her for my hair styling and I must admit that she did a wonderful job and since then I have been going to her and every time so far I got really good results..
So I will highly recommend her ....Lovey lady, good team , speaks good English.
Any luck with finding a good hairdresser for your hair? My hair is wavy but also fine and either I end up with a mop head or with a haircut that doesn't show that my hair has been cut. Very hard to find a hairdresser to cut curly or wavy hair around here.
Shame that I didnt notice this before getting my first haircut in zurich. Just makes me wonder how the result would have been if I would have not had the example picture with me.
Not that there is anything wrong of looking like lesbian truck driver, its just that i am a guy..
ROFL. This reminds me of a sad moment, when I cut my hair in my country many years ago and I looked like a stork with a wavy wig ( I am tall and have a long neck but the cut was not the right cut)! Still traumatised.
Now I show pictures or I say ''stop'' when the hairdresser cuts a bit too much for my liking.
Nothing wrong with cutting my hair short, but at the moment I would look like a pig with a wavy wig because I put some weight on...
It is not easy to find a hairdresser that really makes me and my hair happy.
I have to recommend The Londoner in Kloten (very simple train trip from Zurich). Non pretentious, very welcoming, Alex is English and his wife Sonya trained in London. You even get to catch up on the gossip mags or chat football...
Coincidentally next to the hairdresser, someone has opened a UK style pound shop, will loads of UK goodies. Went to get my haircut, came home with a Crunchie - what's not to like?
