Nothing wrong with that if they make you happy that’s what counts
I find the new DIN-A format that is much better to work with than the 290x460 I used previously.
Of course it meant a reworking of the existing forms, but the now free affinity suit makes things so much easier. (designer for vector graphics, photo as a Photoshop ersatz and Publisher, almost as good or even better than InDesign)
Just finished the new project, that started out as a low res picture of a rusting Belgian gate.
that is beautiful! On my side, i finished a small acrylic - an attempt to copy “spontaneous realism” from Woka and the alikes. Well. maybe I shouldn’t be listening to acid jazz meanwhile…
You did that?
Wow, love it.
yep, the good (and bad) news about acrylics is that you need to paint fast. problem is, it does not fit any of the others around, so it was born already marginalized ![]()
I bought myself a set of acrylics before christmas, (14€ for a box of 40 tubes) so I am giving it a shot.
This is my first attempt.
A little card that folds into three.
That’s so sweet! and very artistic!
a great start! i see that you also added the nice art-deco detail to it. The first, of many other cards! ![]()
I finished another large portrait in acrylics and had some acrylic paint leftover. I saw somewhere that painters use the leftovers to do some ‘quick a-la-prima sketch’. So I aligned the quality of the result with the quality of the pass-partout

Actually, it reminded me this funny ‘demotivational’ quote

Have a great (even if foggy) sunday!
Actually I was going to do a silhouette of one of the grandkids, but that works too.
You do that?
Wish I were that talented…nope, saw it on a website.
reminds me of the entrance doors to the old Cafe Savoy. the center is left ‘transparent’ so you can see through when you enter.
I am not talented to create ab initio these designs like @Slammer is…so I took a photo, copied the model and drew it these privacy foils that you can put on windows – so it is featured now on my shower window!
p.s. >> it took me some time to find the image…Unfortunately, the original doors, the original windows and the original chandeliers were NOT lost during the WWII bombings, but they have been lost during the last years to the tourist pressure. It has become a tourist trap… if you visit Prague, do NOT go!
What did you use to draw the image?
And it gives me an idea, so I have just ordered a roll of iridescent window foil from Amazon.
Dis gonna be goood.
@slammer, you could make money doing this!
Similar in a local cafe so we can check and avoid boring people before we enter.
A small projector that I have at home – so I didn’t mess up the measurements
perfect to scale up things. And to watch online movies ![]()
This is almost a philosophical question
I suppose I could, but then I would no longer be making them for my own enjoyment.
Looking at the first attempts and those I make now gives me a sense of pride and yet I still believe that I can do even better, so perhaps, maybe in time I will try to monitize…
…when I am out of a job next year. Who knows?
But for now a lot of the fun is imagining how the finished piece will look and seeing it come to life, piece by piece.
But don’t you see?? People would pay to see you make them on your channel, and then they’d buy them…think big, big guy. It might be your next chapter.
There is an artist colony in Dießen who organize exhibitions, I plan to build up a portfolio and maybe do some commission stuff.
