How much of this money went to Management options?

Buffet was called the pope of investment for the right reasons: do what I say and not what I do!

A company can give back money to its shareholders via dividends… you have to pay tax. Or it can buy back shares… option holders gain.

I prefer to pay tax than even more to management / option holders.

And while I was in the air with a nice vitello tonnato and some pinot noir some of my most expensive stock was sold: in my gambling strategy I sold some Seaboard (SEB) at $4324. The yearly rent was due, the stock made like 24% in a year. Not very much but better than nothing, welcome to your second year with me Seaboard.

But take care of your chart, you are about to descend to 2nd league (and then out of my portfolio):

Gemini claims that Birkshire doesn’t dilute its shares with shares or options for execs. It cites as a source Berkshire’s CEO Succession: A Brief Look at Incentives – The Rational Walk.

In other news, Michael Burry doesn’t like Abel’s recent purchases. He has since deleted the tweet but it said something along the lines that his biggest fear had become true and that Abel wasn’t patient enough waiting for the fat pitch.

Interesting article, and like the apparent simplicity of paying Abel and Jain the exact same amount, as well as decoupling pay from stock performance.

As for Burry…“he who’s out of the dance floor knows many songs”, we say.

As a CHTR bagholder, I was glad to see they finally got their merger completed.

So am I as a Comcast stockholder…

Just need Comcast and CHTR to merge…

I’ve been following the ups and downs of Ferrexpo.

This Ukrainian Iron miner somehow ended up in the hands of a young oligarch a while back and it seems now that forces are at work to force a reduction in his ownership. I imagine the current politically connected group would like to be the new oligarchs and displace the last generation of politically well-connected oligarchs.

I was re-visiting stalwarts: ENB, UNP, WM. I regret selling these and should have held on. Now they seem a bit too pricey. Looking at alternatives gave: KMI (still pricey), Eiffage, SA, Vinci SA - maybe too French :stuck_out_tongue:

KMI is my favorite stock today – it just paid a fat dividend this morning. :money_bag:
Otherwise it’s too pricey.

As for French stock: apparently it’s a PITA to claim the dividends via IBKR. They withhold 25% and you can credit 15% due to the tax treaty between France and Switzerland. For the remaining 10% you need to jump through a bunch of hoops and pay additional fees.
I haven’t experienced this myself but was warned by one of my mentors when I looked at Vinci a while ago.

I was thinking to avoid the hassle just deducting it from income instead of crediting. You only recover at your marginal rate, but less hassle.

You think the taxman lets you deduct that additional 10%?   Maybe I misunderstood.

Bought AOS, PFE today. Also OGC (on my list but got too impatient to wait for a good price).

Instead of claiming tax credit of 10, you can deduct 10 from income instead. You don’t get as much benefit but you can avoid the hassle.

Interesting. I doubt that’ll fly.

From the taxman’s perspective, you got all your divvies. 15% is counted towards the double tax treaty thing. How you get your additional 10% is entirely up to you. But it is counted towards your income.

Let us know how you’ll fare.

I’ve already done it in the past. You just net off the tax against divi income in the tax return

For my gambling portfolio: sold some HCSG today, yearly rent is due. Sold at 43% gain. Thank you, welcome in the second year and please continue!

@cubanpete I have the impression that you are selling much more than you are buying. Does that mean you are reducing your debt?
