I speak German just fine so it’s not an issue for me at all but your post kind of implied that it gave an overview of the whole of Switzerland which it doesn’t.
You’re free to provide what’s missing instead of demanding it from others. Otherwise you simply demonstrate that you can’t be arsed to do it yourself and have zero grounds to complain about the same from others.
Did I demand anything? No I didn’t, I merely stated a fact.
It must be awfully chilly up there on that high horse of yours…
The implication couldn’t be any clearer. You wouldn’t complain otherwise.
I wasn’t complaining, I was stating a fact.
Reading comprehension clearly isn’t your forte is it?
Tell us, is it?
My posts never imply, I’m well known for being darn straight forward. “Unbearably honest” a friend once called it ![]()
In fact I declare here and now that I cover the German part of Switzerland when giving info/advice or what ever from now on. Problem solved. Fact statet, no need to ever state it again.
Funny you should blame Roxi of something I have just been a victim of by you.
@SoSwiss, you better go to one of these cattle drive from mountain pastures - in one of the four parts in Switzerland - or this whole nagging was not worth it
Enjoy.
Desalpe in St. Cergue is 28 September.
I saw this in St. Gallen once by coincidence. I mean I was sitting at a table by the window, minding my own business in a quiet area in an upper part of the city when all of a sudden the street was full of cows and the sound of cowbells everywhere. Kind of overwhelming and it did not seem to end either. It was very impressive, I must admit.
It was also kind of surreal as up until today I don’t know where these cows lived/went home to. Further down was only city as I remember.
The OLMA, an agriculture-focused exposition with shows and a combined Chilbi/Jahrmarkt takes place in October, this year 10-22 Oct, in the vicinity of the cantonal hospital. Being what it is, a large number of animals of all sorts are part of the event.
Perhaps what you saw is related. Was that in 2006 perchance?
No that was about 1992. But you’re right, could have been Olma. Didn’t think the cows would walk there but be brought in trailers.
Could be dangerous for a cow to walk through that city but that mass of them … ![]()
In 2006 both Appenzell were guest canton, my thought was that they might have decided to have their herd walk through the city for the show effect.
Yes trailers seem likely for the other cantons, but nothing says they’d need to get unloaded near the Olma, the event is quite a big thing for SG and enjoys special privileges.
And forecast was right again, said it might get cool enough overight this week for the central heating to come on and it has.
Now that you mention it. I thought it was cold but I find anything beneath 25°C cold so I didn’t give it much thought. All my room thermostats are still on off but the bathroom I can’t control and you’re right; the heating is on there too.
How depressing is that.
Maybe bowlie will have to play us Baby It’s Cold Outside again!
Crikey! Might be down to 4C on Sunday night according to the forecast. ![]()
Right now there’s a global congress of people that pays too much attention to rocks and dirt (geologist, hydrogeologists and lost physicists) in Davos. Tomorrow they wake up to snow and slush just above 0°C. We can joke about “Switzerlanded” because none of the tourists expected snow and zero degrees in early September.
For us, what about winter tires? ![]()
Just joking, snow line is predicted to be between 1’100-1’500 meters above sea level. So, down here in the foggy Swiss Plateau, only rain.
It’s been absolutely stotting down with rain in Basel today, never went out. I went out for a stroll yesterday evening and had to put a cardigan on for the first time in months.
2 weeks ago I was in Baden Baden for a day and the heat was insufferable, flew to Sofia the following day and that was hotter. The air was awful there as well, I was wheezing walking round the corner from the hotel to a bus stop.
It was nostalgic to see some old Basel trams there though, it was as if we’d never left lol
There’s a dusting of snow on the Chasseral this morning, that’s only about 1000m.
5C this morning walking the dogs, I should have worn my gloves, shudder.
