Now not so much rain, but very windy tomorrow.
Still, so long as the snow holds off. We’re travelling next week and I don’t want to do it in snow. Rain is bad enough.

" Heavy snowfall will bring winter back to Switzerland
Winter is back: until Tuesday evening, up to one metre of fresh snow could fall in Switzerland. Snowfall will be accompanied by strong gusts of wind.
The Glarus region is particularly affected, from the Uri Alps to the west of the Bernese Oberland and east to the Rätikon. Above 1500 metres, 70 to 100 cm of fresh snow could fall, writes MeteoSwiss on Sunday afternoon. By Tuesday evening, the snowfall limit is expected to drop to 600 metres.
Strong westerly to northwesterly winds will also sweep through the affected regions. Above 2000 metres, MeteoSwiss forecasts gusts of up to 120 kilometres per hour. The plains will also be affected by strong winds of up to 90 km/h.
The heavy snowfall is due to a westerly to northwesterly current over the Alps. It is located between an area of high pressure off the Atlantic coast of Portugal and an area of low pressure over the North Sea. It therefore intermittently carries moist air over Switzerland, where it accumulates."
Clearly you dont drive a Subaru?
Nissan Qashqai.
And both Meteoblue and Meterosuisse are wrong. We’re at 600m and it’s snowing. ![]()
Hm, seems to have turned to sideways rain now.
Snow? What snow? All gone now. ![]()
Yes, it’s gone downhill, it took a train along in Valais. I’m joking because only minor injuries.
It eased off for a couple of hours when I went out with the snow blower, but has started again here at 1350m. A neighbour who drove up this morning says that it was falling as rain about 100m lower, where the road starts to descend down to Troistorrents.
Been a good 40cm since it started falling yesterday evening, more expected and with the freezing level dropping over the next day or two it may have a wider impact.
We need a rain-blower, the puddles are just getting bigger and deeper!
Massive sponge?
Well thank you, a massive sponge to you too!
We had snow then rain last night with very strong winds. Still windy today, some rain, a bit of sunshine … Weather can’t make up its mind what it wants to do.
Thunder and lightning now in central Switzerland.
Today’s weather has got everything!
We spent yesterday (Rosenmontag) in deepest darkest Swabia, looking out at a spectacular 3-hour-long constant parade of thousands of wonderful costumes, marching bands, tomfoolery, and absolutely thrilled kids. Weather was cold and sunny, but with a biting wind.
Now, that’s scary. Train passenger records an avalanche on a mountain on the other side of a ravine…the avalanche climbs up and reaches the train anyway. Valais keeps showing up in the news.
And now, Leukerbad. People and buildings are safe, but I imagine listening to the noise and being covered by the snow powder cloud is quite a life experience.
I’m going out for a walk soon, sunny and 15°C. No mountain bike because the trail is a giant pig pen ![]()
South of the Alps, Bellinzona 22°C.
18° here along La Côte
Same here in Neuchâtel.
Fierce sun today, after all-day rain yesterday. Shorts and T shirts on the balcony. The entire neighbourhood decamped, clumping down the road in their ski boots. Rescue heli has a busy day!
