They are manufactured in the US, Germany and China to serve the different global markets. So Musk is quite well hedged against tariffs. However the parts for the manufacture may be hit, depending on how deep the tariffs go.
Teslas are built in California and Texas, the only tariffs to be paid wil be on imported parts
Allegedly, 20% of the parts of the US-made Teslas come from Mexico. Those will be taxed, too.
I suspect, it’s one of the lowest in the industry.
Tesla has always strived to have local suppliers, after they experienced some supply-chain hell during the Roadster-production and early Model S.
Another time when Tesla was ahead of its time. It allowed them to scale up production even during the pandemic (that, and Elon’s decision to keep pushing the pedal to the metal, not cancelling any supplier contracts like the rest of the world).
I believe the first deliveries of the new Model Y are due tomorrow in Switzerland.
Looking forward to seeing one on the street.
One should not believe every salesman
Tesla Cybertruck sank in Ventura harbor in California when trying to launch a jetski despite Tesla CEO Elon Musk saying that you could use the truck as a boat
That BYD SUV going across that river in the video is seriously impressive.
It’s not just BYD trolling Tesla, KIa have been doing it as well in a Norwegian Kia ad:
Maybe we should just get the Tesla thread merged with the jokes/funnies thread?
I think KIA has now retracted that sticker/campaign.
Also, the message this sends is a bit dubious: is the car really better or is it just that the CEO is invisible?
Don’t they have humorous adverts in Germany?
German companies do for the international market. Here’s one that Porsche created:
Here’s another:
Tesla sales in China picked up last week to 13,800, compared to 13,200 last year and 17,032 in 2023.
Has it? That’s yesterdays news about Monday (the day before yesterday)
you’re gonna tell me it’s stock not sales.
But " BYD was just around 25,000 cars shy of overtaking Tesla to be the world’s largest seller of battery EVs in 2024." does not sound too good (for Tesla) either.
They are now calling the stock collapse
“The Tesla chainsaw massacre”
British Columbia Premier David Eby said he was removing Tesla from its EV rebate program because of Elon Musk in violation of the Canadian Human Rights Act.
After Trump’s Tesla show at the White House the Tesla share price ticked up but the next day it fell back. There is no consensus among stock analysts, current share price is around $250 and forecasts range from $500 to $120.
It will be a tough sell turning MAGAs into tree huggers, climate aware and buying environment friendly Teslas.
More likelyy it will convince the climate concerned that boycotting Tesla is a useful route to attack Trump.
I was waliking through the village today with the dogs and somebody had piled rubbish on a parked Tesla. I support boycotting Tesla but definitely not such vandalism.
Also today
Edit: There are a lot of complaints about the trim falling off Cybertrucks, it is glued on and the glue is failing. There are claims of a temporary suspension of deliveries.
As Elon has said again and again: prototypes are easy, production is hard.
It looks like time has spoken.
do you have them in the drawer for when your new car arrives?
Although the “bought before you knew …” sticker would be a lie.
Eh?
ah, yeah, sorry, you must have gotten your new car last year.
Hi everyone.
Thread went a bit off the rails. The spirit of this thread is the info and experiences shared by rainer_d, abfab, castro and others to help people driving EVs around Switzerland.
Marton, let’s go to this thread or this one for the memes. We can fool around there, there’s plenty of material.
