Tesla EV discussion

Awesome. Does this algorithm then also discharge the battery, or does the range extend?

If this is true, they are in lots of trouble.

Itā€˜s bullshit. Do you know how many people track their mileage with 3rd party tools and GPS?

Yet another frivolous law suite, hoping to catch the current Anti Elon, Anti Tesla bandwagon.

We will see how real or not data tampering by Tesla is or has been. On an anecdotal note. After my two month hire, I tried to get Tesla to supply me with the odometer readings and the charging history. All I got was their figure for total k’s driven (approximately OK) and energy from Tesla superchargers (a small proportion of my charging). Unfortunately I did not have third party system to check the numbers. I was interested in total consumption but also to see if there was a difference between trickle charging and supercharging (in theory there should be none). That Tesla will not supply me with the numbers is ā€œstrangeā€.

Possible. And no, it had never occured to me to track the tracker.

I’m not sure what you wanted to find out. All charging info is available from the Tesla app on ā€œCharge Statsā€ and the car’s screen each time you charge wherever it is…

That is exactly part of my problem. Rented car, no access to the app. I will never rent again under these conditions. Tesla and the rental company pass the buck between them - end result- no information for me. I am glad that no major problems arose. I had enough difficulties with the Tesla navigation system including it getting speed limits wrong, to be very sceptical of how far automation should go.

The App is free and just needs pairing with the vehicle - VIN number on the windscreen. Should be possible with a rental. It would also act as a key from your pocket etc etc…

This might help you in the future

Not all rental companies allow this, Hertz is a notable exception. And its not just Teslas, I’ve rented a couple of Polestars and it also didn’t allow you to pair your phone to the car, just basic Bluetooth streaming and handsfree calls.

How are Supercharger payments made without an App with a credit card lodged ?

From the Hertz website.

If you charge at a Tesla network station, the cost will be added to your Hertz bill to pay after you return the car. And if you charge at a third-party charging station, just pay on the spot.

With Europcar they give you a Shell key fob for their EV rentals that also gets charged to your rental booking.

I know. It sounds really weird.

But people that record every km they drive with a dashcam with GPS do exist. Otherwise, youtube would not have endless hours of car crashes.

In places like Russia and parts of Asia, staged accidents and false claims are common so a dash cam is necessary to prove what really happened.

Trickle charging is more efficient.
Fast charging means trading efficiency (and money) for time.

There’s a couple of these tools.
I personally don’t have the nerve to do that, but others track their car religiously.

I have several dashcams (at least one for every car I have). None (easily) show mileage. They will show the GPS coordinates and speed, and record that. Without specialist apps that take all the waypoints, I haven’t seen one that does it defacto.

People who do record the distance traveled for tax purposes have apps for this purpose that don’t rely on odometer readings.

Last week Tesla sold 6,800 in China so about 20% more than the same week last year.
They were outsold by the Xiaomi SU7 at 7,200.

Tesla reported a miss on the top and bottom lines in its first-quarter earnings report on Tuesday as automotive revenue plunged 20% from a year earlier.

Here are the key numbers compared with LSEG expectations.

  • Earnings per share: 27 cents adjusted vs. 39 cents estimated
  • Revenue: $19.34 billion vs. $21.11 billion estimated
Operating income in the quarter slid 66% to $400 million from $1.17 billion a year earlier, resulting in a 2.1% operating margin.

The company would have lost money on automotive sales without environmental regulatory credits during the quarter. Revenue from the credits, which Tesla receives for selling fully electric vehicles, increased to $595 million from $432 million in the same quarter last year

Won’t make any difference. He’s now tied to Trump and his idiotic doings so I expect to see no change.
